Last Minute Additions for April 22, 2007

A few last minute additions you may want to look for on your waiver wire in head to head leagues for April 22, 2007 are Jason Hirsh and any hitter from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Hirsh (1-1, 3.38 ERA, 3.2 k/b ratio) has been raved about by numerous people pre-season and hasn't really disappointed so far. While it's never a positive to be a pitcher in Coors Field, experts believe that Hirsh has the stuff to overcome that. In his lone start at Coors this year he went 7 ip, 3 earned, 6 hits, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. I look for him to improve on these numbers against San Diego tomorrow. His prior performance against the Padres led to 6 2/3 ip, 1 earned, 6 hits, 0 walks and 8 k’s leading to the win.

As far as hitters, I would look for anyone that can manage to pick up a bat against Jeff Weaver (0-2, 15.75 ERA, 1.33 k/b ratio). Weaver has gotten completely shelled his first two outings, and at this point is probably just holding a spot for a minor leaguer. Most people would consider 8 innings pitched a pretty solid outing...unless it’s over 2 games...and there were 14 earned runs in those 8 innings. While I have noticed Weaver is striking out guys at an alarming rate (4 k's this season), I feel it’s safe to suggest any hitter against him. Weaver is also giving up over 2 hits per inning, sharing the wealth with all the hitters. Jason Bartlett (Minnesota shortstop with 10 hits this season in 44 a/b) got two of them off Weaver. Feel free to pick up a guy like Orlando Cabrera, knowing that he will get you at least 1 hit.
